When Annette Mügge bought the traditional restaurant “Zum Löwen” more than 42 years ago, she never dreamed that the rustic restaurant would one day become a modern hotel and restaurant business with an excellent reputation. At that time, the range of products was bockwurst and potato salad or other small snacks.
Annette Muegge’s “knack” for cultivated hospitality, stylish ambience and the necessary feeling for the guests’ wishes soon ensured that the house developed into one of the first restaurant addresses in Lippe. Chef Udo Büschemann, who has been with us right from the start, made a significant contribution to the gastronomic success. He spoils friends of good food with an international cuisine in which the seasonal offer of the market always sets the tone and the regional cuisine also receives its due recognition. A well-assorted range of drinks rounds off the restaurant area.
In June 1993 Annette Mügge fulfilled a long-cherished wish: In only seven months the hotel “Zum Löwen” was built directly next to the restaurant, which is now managed by the daughter and hotel manager Sonja Steinmair together with her husband Manfred Steinmair.
The large ballroom had to make way for the modern extension. It was replaced by a three-storey building with 7 single, 22 double rooms and 4 comfortable suites.
Stylish elegance has been taken into account in the furnishings. Great importance was attached to an equally dignified atmosphere in the design of the guest and social rooms. This ensures, for example, that the day for the guest can begin with a rich breakfast buffet in a bright and friendly winter garden.
39 lovingly furnished hotel rooms will be available from 2015 following further conversion and expansion.
